Play Dough

2 1/2 cups Flour
1/2 cup Salt
2 Tablespoons Cream of Tarter
1 PKG unsweetened Kool-aid
3 Tablespoons Oil
2 cups BOILING water

Mix dry ingredients.  Add oil and BOILING water. Mix with large spoon.  I've made this countless times and usually don't need to add more flour, but if it's too wet add more flour slowly.  This Play Dough turns out so great, and lasts for months.  Just put it in a Ziplock.

Hours and hours of fun.

Lego Mania

2 years ago for Christmas we got the boys a first Lego set.

It came in a little blue tub. Since then we have been slowly acumulating more and more.....

Birthdays.

Christmas.

Extra Money from Grandma and Grandpa.

They graduated from that little blue container to about 4 Rubbermade containers.

WOW

Can you say tooooo many Legos? I know they can't.

And here they are in PJs making new creations.

It's that time of year again....

where people dress funny, walk in the streets and make merry. This is our little towns parade, and yes, we were walking right along with everyone else. Just like we belong, maybe we do...

Snow... finally

We waited and waited for it to snow, and it seemed that it was never going to happen. It was cold and gray, but no snow. What a way to spend a winter. Tt finally happened, and we all bundled up and headed out! In this picture there is little snow, but it was just in a windy spot, so there's much more snow than that, with more in the forecast. The kids couldn't be happier. As for me I am so thankful that I invested in that million dollar parka.

Sketching and Watercolor

I started an online art class about a week ago. The teacher sends out very simple instruction that I download. I can read, and re-read, and yes, read again, hen begin the project. I sketch, outline, and paint. Next I upload a photo to a forum and the teacher gives me her thoughts and suggestions about it.

The kids have gotten really excited about the class after seeing a few of the things I've done, so I decided to give them a little mini lesson. They did a great job, and painted little works of art.

Opened House

Strange, but true: Naomi had school on a Saturday. She did get to sleep in a little bit, but had to be there at 8:30. Her school had an opened house, or "a day with an opened door". There were all kinds of activities going on in the school. She took the little boys on a little tour and did a few stations with them. There was freshly made apple juice, a stand of things the kids had made for sale and honey that the bees at the school made. Hard to believe that next year Eyan will be there too.

Wheels for Christmas

I love the idea of Bikes, Roller Blades and Skate Boards for Christmas, but this year it was a little bit difficult. We had so much snow. So I endured almost a full week of indoor riding. Boy am I glad that's over! I think it was around January 7 that the snow was shoveled off of the driveway enough for the kids to go out and Skate. And now a few weeks later we have no snow, but it's COLD with a capital C!

Batman and Robin

Today Silus and Toben cleaned up the mountain of Lego's and in exchange I got down the overflowing basket of Stuffed Animals and dress up stuff. Dressed in record time. It's a Batman outfit for Silus that is 3 sizes small. Toben it's a Spiderman costume, but he is convinced it's Robin. At least 3 sizes big. Old warn out Halloween costumes. I've patched them and re sewn them, and tried to convince them to at least switch. No, they wont even consider.

They play with the animals and some little puppets. Throw them, dress them, and fight over them. All in a few minutes, but this entertains them for hours. It's fun to watch. There is screaming, laughing, joking and fighting. The house is a disaster. Eyan and Naomi will be home from school not long after, and so let the Wild Rompus begin.

Back to School

Time to pack up and head back to school. The morning went off without a hitch. All of the new books were accounted for and everything was labeled with permanent marker. The kids were all a bit nervous and could hardly sit through breakfast. That surprised me since they have the same teacher, same class room and they know all the kids, but I guess it's still the first day back.

(My camera had a accident with a sand pile over the summer, so a lot of my picture quality just isn't the same. So sorry they are a little blurry, but that's all I have for now.)

School's Out

I can hardly believe that this school year is over! A HUGE congratulations to the kids for their perseverance and determination! They have exceeded our every expectation and are all speaking German with ease! Not only speaking but excelling! They can count, sing songs and hold a conversation. We need to do something to reward them for all their work! Any Ideas?

Erdbeere Land

Just down the road between our village and the next there is an sign that could be easily missed, it says "Erdbeere Land" and has a big faded strawberry painted on one side. You can pick as much fruit as you want for a really reasonable price, bring your own bucket and a bunch of kids and you'll have more strawberries than you know what to do with. We have made it two times this season and have not been disappointed. We have made two batches of jam, and eaten strawberries until we could eat no more!

Playground

Not far from our house there is a small playground. For the most part it is a playground much like the ones we have at home. There is a metal slide, sand galore and a tunnel that the kids can run through or hide in. It has one very unusual feature and that is a swing that looks like a gigantic birds nest. The nest is big enough for all 3 boys to lay down and get pushed. Naomi gets a great running start and pushes her heart out. The boys scream with delight and the afternoon is passes with lots of fun.

Ramstein Aquatic Center

Ramstein Air Force Base is about 25 minutes from our house. It is a really nice base. On Ramstein you can find a Chili's, Burger King , Gyms AND the world's largest PX. Impressive I know. They also have a great pool with slides and the water isn't freezing. It does make me miss Ft.Bliss and our long summer days at the pool, but we did like swimming while the outside temperatures are still freezing.

Sunny Afternoon

It's Wednesday March 3rd at 2:30 in the afternoon. The sun is shinning. We all sit in the living room letting the sun warm us. We are reading. Books about bears and bratty kids, books about cowboys and farms. It is quiet, until a book is exchanged. Toben whines about a book that someone is actually reading. It is passed over to him, and once again there is only the sound of turning pages. A very wonderful sound.

An Update

It's been awhile. Life just gets busy, and things get put aside. I do love blogging, but I'm afraid it was one of the first to go. I would have much rather skip out on laundry or lunch maybe cleaning the bathroom, but it was the blog.
In the last month we had a newly wed couple stay with us for 2 weeks. They just moved here and we helped find them a houses, showed them around town and everything else that goes with moving to Germany.

I had a birthday and went on a lovely trip to Switzerland. I joined a quilt guild and have also been learning about German history.

Martin had a field exercises and has been away much of the time. He also took the computer with him, so that did make it a little harder to blog. We have decided to take a few trips as a family before he leaves for Poland in about 6 weeks.

Naomi has been keeping her room clean and has made excellent grades in school. Can't even say how proud I am of her!

Eyan had fallen out of a tree and tripped up our stone stairs, so at the moment he is a little scrapped up. He also got a very good report from his teacher and is doing excellent in school.

Silus has ridden his little tricycle to school as the weather is starting to warm up. Funny when at 45 it's a real heat wave.

Toben is still 2. He stopped drinking out of a bottle, and is showing a new interest on walking around town. He stands just under me and repeatedly wines "a walk, a walk, a walk" until I either give in or distract him. I'd say it's about 1/2 the time he wins. I do love walking in the woods here.

SO, that's it in a nut shell. I am hoping to be better this month and get some pictures of the kids up.

Yabadoo

Yabadoo is an indoor bouncing balloon run off energy let the kids go wild kind of a place. Kind of hard to describe it really. Like the American Hoots except bigger and a little stinkier. It is a great place to take all 4 kids. They all leave tired, hungry and happy. What more can I say? Yabadoo!

Magic Eraser

At one time I thought that kids who wrote on stuff were just left unattended, or found markers all over the house and wrote on stuff because they saw their other brothers and sisters doing it. That is until Toben came into the picture. This little guy finds markers and crayons like nobodies business! The other kids never wrote all over stuff AND he isn't left for any amount of time that he could do MUCH. Well I guess it doesn't take much. I have to admit that it is harder to keep markers and crayons out of reach at ALL times. BUT that doesn't stop him. He has written on the refrigerator, shelves and the couch just since we have been here. And the Magic Eraser isn't as magic as I thought it was. It won't take the pen off of the couch. Darn it!

Look Who's 5! Silus if you can believe it! We had an exclusive interview with Silus and here's what he had to say! These are the hard to get questions that you won't find anywhere else. And here it is.....
