Time to Swim

It's so wonderful having this public pool here in our little village.  It's about 1 mile away, and Naomi and Eyan are both old enough to ride their bikes down to the pool and stay as long as they want.

I don't think it's even hit 80 degrees here yet, but we are feeling so grateful for the blue skies and warmer weather.  We have already been swimming more this month than we did the entire last year, so I got a pass hoping for more warm weather. Not that the kids spend the whole time in the pool anyways, but it feels wonderful to be outside after such a long winter.

Sand Balls

We add a bit of water to our sand-yard.

Silus made Sand Balls, and put them on the swing,  then gave them a good push and watched as they all flew away.

Martin is working the night shift this week, so we're trying to keep the house quiet while he sleeps, so sand balls it is.

Mrs. Booger

Naomi jointed Theater for school this year.  This was one of the first times her school put on a play since there has not been much interest for threater in the past.

Naomi was the cook for a summer camp, where there was an unexpected murder. She played the part of Mrs. Booger, a funny cook who didn't cook so well.  She did a great job  remembering all of her lines, and playing the part.

Here she is being interrogated by the detective...... she was the murderer!

New Journals

I picked up some new notebooks/journals for the kids.  They were depleting our paper supply so quickly and it's so hard keeping track of all the little drawings.  Now they are on a "strict" journal only drawing, it seems to be going pretty well, and I hope that it's something they will hold onto for years to come.

Just because they make me happy.....

Rothenburg ob der Tauber

A very quaint little village here in Germany, complete with a City Wall, Towers, Cobble Stones and many Watchtowers.   The weather was a little on the cool side, but we buttoned up and toured like pros.

Walking around the village up on the city wall was very beautiful.  Plenty of space for the kids to run, and get some great pictures.

The famous "Schneeball" which is basically pie crust that has been rolled into strips, then formed into a delicate ball and sprinkled with your choice of Cinnamon and Sugar, nuts, or chocolate.

Speyer

Grandma Irene came for 3 weeks, and while she was here we made a few trips to see some of the things in our area.  One of the first places was a museum in Speyer, which is about 45 minutes from us.  It had a very interesting collection of old cars, trains, airplanes, and boats.  We also watched an IMAX movie that was on a round screen.
